Show Signups

Hey everybody!

How's winter break going? Mine is super awesome, thanks for asking. I, in my supreme position of program director emeritus ask you, no, beg you (if you want to DJ), to email our brand new PD Tanya to request a time slot. Email her about any questions you may have. Also, DJs and prospective DJs should join our new DJ listserv on google groups by going here. Thanks!

Happy New Year and here's to another great WQHS semester!

Congrats

Congrats to our new station manager, Kirsten Saracini, and three cheers for our outgoing station manager, Mike Murphy. This station's on it's way up thanks to Mike, and is sure to get even better with Kirsten in charge. I've been with WQHS for a while and seen it go pretty far in these last couple years. But the future's where it's at, and you should all be psyched.

...so that's probably the last you'll hear from me. Take good care of WQHS, DJs- get involved and make this station the best it can be. Keep tuning in listeners- these shows just keep getting better and more professional all the time. But most importantly- keep it real, friends.

Adios!

You folk might be noticing a few changes on this site. We are in the process of updating the website to make it look shiny and new! Please bear with us. Everything should, however, still work. If you encounter any problems, please let the webmaster know (here). Cheers!

DJ of the Fortnight is here again

Greetings faithful listeners. Hope you're staying warm out there- but just in case you need an extra lil' something, this lil' board of yours is giving you some special lil' DJs to listen to.

Put your hands together for Ms. Mary Kate Stopa and Mr. Dan Goldman. Eleven to noon might sound early, but it's worth waking up for the weekly Geography War (and for the truly intrepid, there's a 10 AM show keeping it real). Thanks for keeping up on our toes, freshmen! And thanks for the crazy themed playlists.

Also- muchas gracias to all who made our show on Friday a success. Door shifts rule!

That's all for now, folks. Please: keep it real.

Calling all Alumni!

WQHS alums, have you been feeling nostalgic? Looking to get in touch with DJs from years long (and I really mean long) past?

Never fear! The WQHS website is in the process of a redesign, and we've realized the error of our ways, and are seeking to add an alumni network section of the page. If you are interested in taking part in this exciting new endeavor, please contact the webmistress, Caroline, who will be happy to keep you updated and to make sure you find a place here on the WQHS website.

DJs of fortnights

If you're like me, you set your watch by the announcement of WQHS's new DJ of the Fortnight. So I beg apologies for the one day delay (and hope you remembered to set your clocks back, too).

Once again we're gonna smack you around the head with no less than two DJs. This time the hardworking duo are Ms. Melissa Metelits and Mr. Jack Stanley, cohosts of The Elizabeth Tyler Show. (Bonus points for the Halloween themed set last week, kids.)

Recover from your weekly hangover in style every Saturday morning at noon, listeners; and keep up the good work, DJs.

Two DJs For The Price Of One!

We at promotions have calendars, and it didn't escape our notice that it's been two weeks since our last DJ of the Fortnight. So it's time for a new champion to claim the throne.

And without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, we give you Ms. Joyce S. Lee and Ms. Brooke Palmieri, hosts of WQHS's wildly successful talk radio programme Talk Talk. It's interactive and highly therapeutical and on every Sunday at 10!

We wish Brooke and Joyce nothing but the best! And we hope you all tune in every week.

DJ of the Fortnight strikes back

Time keeps on slippin' (slippin') into the future, and you know what that means- a fortnight has passed, and a new DJ reigns supreme. Ladies and gentlemen, a round of applause for Mr. David Gottlieb! He's WQHS's brand spanking new DJ of the fortnight.

Tune in to his show Nights On The Symphony every Thursday night from 10 till midnight. Broaden your horizons, finally finish your bio homework, or polish off that bottle of Yellow Tail- classical music can do it all. And for those in the know, there's always world music at the end (see, we know our DJs!).

Congrats, David, and take heed, DJs- some day, all of this can be yours.

Fall Schedule

Hi everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick)

The schedule is up in its full glory. Check it out (change the semester to Fall 2008), it's amazing. I'll wait for you to come back....

Nice, isn't it? Do you see your name there? No? Want it there? Then email the Supreme Schedule Emperor (Mike, can we change my title to that? PD is so boring.) with what open slot you want. For those already basking in the awesome power of being on the WQHS schedule, check to see if your info is speled right and you can still do your time slot.

New DJs: Expect an email from me relatively soon about getting trained in the ancient art of pushing colored buttons to get music to play to the entire world.

So that's that. The schedule is finally up. There will probably be a few changes in the coming days and we always want new DJs added. Tell your friends! Another great semester of WQHS programming is gearing up. Prepare yourself, World.

Adios Amigos,
SSE

Fall Show Signups

Oh hello. I didn't see you there. Well since you're here, I might as well break it to you now before it just gets awkward later. Is that ok? Sure? Ok, here goes nothing. WQHS is now accepting fall show requests. Wow. That wasn't so bad. You should probably know that DJs and prospective DJs should send an email to programdirector@wqhs.org if not already done. Send your name, cohost name (if applicable), email and cohost's email, show name, and FIVE desired time slots. Shows can be any day of the week, are generally two hours long, and start/stop on the even hours. Also include in your email how many semesters, if any, you have been with WQHS and if you want to simply keep your slot from last semester. Check the schedule page in two weeks to see what you ended up with. Training for new DJs will be arranged closer to the start of classes. Email any questions as well. Please, stop crying. It's not a big deal. You knew it would come to this eventually. Oh, tears of joy? You're happy about this? Well. Good. I'm glad. I'm happy too. I think we are both going to be much better off now. I'll always love you. You know that. Stay in touch, though. Like really. You better email me.

Until next time, peace, love, and internet radio.

Sarah Stoecker and Grace Ambrose: DJs of the Fortnight

Congrats to Sarah Stoecker and Grace Ambrose, who are (still) WQHS's DJs of the Fortnight. These girls, on their noon-2 Saturday show "Not Saying, Just Saying", have been smashing the listener count and generally rocking out. Eagle-eyed WQHS fans may recall that Sarah and Grace were DJs of the Fortnight many moons ago, before winter break, but they're just so good they earned it a second time, too. Congrats, girls, and stayed tuned for the next announcement, listeners.

DJ Training

Calling all new DJs!

The first DJ training (and first part of the becoming a DJ process) of the semester will be Saturday at 3PM at the station (Room 504, Hollenback Building, 3000 South St.) It will take about 3o minutes. Please be on time. This is mandatory of you haven't DJed at WQHS before and optional for returning DJs. Please email me at programdirector@wqhs.org and let me know you will be attending. If you can't make it, email me anyway so we can work something else out.
